Michelle is a figurative sculptor working primarily in clay, casting finished pieces in resin, plaster, cast marble, and bronze. Each work is finished with an individualized patina.
Now in her third year of a return to formal art training, Michelle continues to develop under selected master sculptors while building her independent practice. Her background as a physician dermatologist and biologist adds an anatomist's precision to her figurative work.
“When I sculpt, I enter a state of flow which is at once entrancing and arduous. As time fades into nothingness, an inner struggle between resistance and surrender ensues which eventually gives rise to my finished sculptures. Each piece contains a little bit of my soul.”
